Joe-Penney-2“Walking in the clients’ shoes” is a phrase that you hear a lot in the consulting world. In order to really walk in a client’s shoes, you must understand a project from a client’s perspective. This expertise does not develop overnight but with years of experience.  At DiPrete, we can’t think of a better way to do this than collaborating with the client as part of our in-house team.

On that note, we are proud to announce that Joe Penney has joined our team as Vice President of Development. After spending a number of years in both consulting and development roles, Joe is a prime example of knowing what to expect as well as how to collaborate with a client to make a project successful.

Joe joined the DiPrete Engineering team in August and brings over 30 years of experience in both engineering and development. Most recently he invested 15 years as the Director of Development for Ahold USA, parent company of Stop & Shop New England. Prior to that, he served as a Principal at Gale Associates, leading the Civil, Environmental, and Transportation groups at the well-known consulting firm located in Weymouth, MA.

Having literally been in the client’s shoes from the developers’ side, Joe has a unique perspective on how clients might approach a new project. With years of permitting experience in New England, Joe understands a project from both the tenant and landlord’s perspective.

“After 30 years in the industry Joe’s reputation is outstanding and we are excited to have him as a team member and resource for our staff and clients,” said Dennis DiPrete, Principal of DiPrete Engineering, “His talent and expertise matched with an already great team of engineering and design professionals will be a be of great value to our clients.”

Joe will work out of the firm’s Dedham office. His goal is to use his insight and past experiences to enhance DiPrete’s client service as much as possible. “At Stop & Shop it was always helpful to work with a firm that realized that understanding the client’s perspective is key to a successful project,” he said. “My goal is to help expand DiPrete’s already prominent reputation throughout New England by applying my 30 years in the business to enhance the client experience.”
