Landscape Architect Alex Avery, based out of the firm’s Newport office, renewed her RICRMC Invasive Management certification needed for work in coastal areas protected by the state Coastal Resources Management Council. The certification will allow Alex to manage work within half of a total buffer zone area.
“Landscape professionals who are not certified can only manage up to 25 percent of a project,” she said. “The displacement of native species is the number one environmental issue caused by invasive plants, but the restructuring of a coastal buffer affects other life forms, as well.”
As a part of the DiPrete team, Alex’s certification serves as a great value in coastal projects not only for clients but also the environment. “We are supporting important issues like habitat restoration,” added Alex. “It feels good knowing that our work will not have a negative impact on the environment.”
This certification will be beneficial to our Aquidneck Island client base as well as business owners and residents along other coastal areas throughout Rhode Island.
